As the 2026 world juniors rapidly approach, it appears decisions on Canada's roster are still being made.
San Jose Sharks head coach Ryan Warsofsky told reporters on Wednesday that the team has discussed sending rookie defenceman Sam Dickinson to the WJC, but that it remains undecided as of now.
In the meantime, Dickinson remains with the Sharks as they prepare for a two-game home stand starting on Thursday.
Dickinson has played 26 games for the Sharks this season, logging a goal, two assists and 22 hits for a minus-five.
The Toronto native was originally taken by San Jose with the 11th overall pick in the 2024 draft. He spent last year with the OHL's London Knights and racked up 91 points (29 goals, 62 assists) through 55 appearances en route to the franchise's second consecutive league championship and the Memorial Cup.
Coaching Team Canada at the world juniors will be Dale Hunter, a man Dickinson is plenty familiar with. Hunter was the NHL rookie's coach with the Knights.
Should Dickinson join the red-and-white when action begins on Dec. 26, he'll also be alongside another familiar face in Michael Misa, his Sharks teammate and fellow rookie. The forward, taken second overall by San Jose earlier this year, was released by the team on Tuesday to join Canada's world juniors roster.
